The geometry of the sacred – patterns constructed in the traditional manner with compass and ruler. An exploration of order and the unexpected, chaos and cosmos.
Stone, earth, plant, animal, and insect: nature is the origin of the artist's palette. Wherever possible, my colours come from paints I've made myself by crushing stones and grinding earths. I mix dry pigment with a binder – usually gum arabic – to make the intensely saturated watercolour paints I prefer.
The patterns and raw materials of these paintings are informed by travels and research with The Prince's School of Traditional Arts in London.
